HAVING read the Ros Hollands' reviews of my singers over two consecutive years I am sorry to see that she finds the stance of my singers off putting, but I feel I should attempt to answer this criticism professionally.
I train my singers to let their hands fall at their sides because it interferes least with the vocal mechanism while they are developing techniques. Singers who clasp their hands in front of them often hunch their shoulders and singers who stand with their hands behind their backs pull their shoulders back both positions can cause the body to fall out of alignment.
I believe I am teaching the children and adults to be correct so I am sorry Ros is at variance with it.
Perhaps it would be good to have another reviewer take a fresh look at the concert next year.
