SWINDON CANCER APPEAL: Racing car enthusiasts have the chance to indulge their passion at a Grand-Prix style event in aid of the Swindon Cancer Appeal.
Budding Michael Schumachers can ride in a top sports car and help the appeal at the same time.
Car enthusiasts who own sports and prestige cars will be taking part in a fundraising track event at Hullavington Ministry of Defence airfield on Friday.
Bradford-on-Avon-based Motorsports Events, which is organising the event, is also offering car enthusiasts the chance to be a passenger in a Ferrari, TVR, Lotus or a Maserati for £10.
Enthusiasts can also bid online to drive a Mitsubishi Evo VII, a Subaru Impreza or a Porsche 911 Carrera.
The auction also includes the chance to be a passenger in an Aston Martin, and organisers are hoping to be able to offer a ride in a prototype Invicta S1, a top sports car.
Non-drivers can watch the action for just £10.
The 2.4 miles of tarmac incorporates an exciting mix of fast, slow, long and tight corners, together with extended straights giving all types of car and driver a real challenge.
Organiser Natasha Burdett, 27, said: "The track day is a chance for those with sports or prestige cars to drive them in a safe and controlled environment on a track and learn all about important driving skills.
"We are thrilled that companies like Porsche and Aston Martin are supporting the event.
"The company's managing director Ed Moore has taught the most dashing men how to drive the most revered cars.
"He is one of only a handful of performance driving instructors for Aston Martin, and teaches guests in a DB7 and Vanquish every week.
"Last year Ed taught both Hugh Grant and Pierce Brosnan the art of performance driving."
Passengers will be able to sample 28-year-old Ed's driving on the day, as he will be offering hot laps laps driven at speed with skids and other exciting skills in return for a donation to the appeal.
It costs £150 to take part, £51 of which goes to the Swindon Cancer Appeal.
If a second driver is taking part they pay £50, all of which goes to the appeal.
But if it all sounds too fast paced, Natasha said people are welcome to go along and watch.
Appeal manager Graziella Campisano said: "This car racing event sounds fantastic because it appeals to so many people.
"I'm sure many can't wait to get to grips with the track. It sounds a lot of fun. And it's great that the organisers have said people can go along and watch for £10.
"It means even more money for our appeal."
Hullavington is situated two miles off Junction 17 of the M4, near Chippenham.
