Keep an eye on your barbecue, Wiltshire Fire Brigade has warned.
Poor bonfire and barbecue safety is one of the hazards that keep firefighters so busy over the summer.
"Generally at this time of year we see a rise in calls," said community safety officer Andy Young.
Last year crews in the south of Wiltshire were called out nearly 650 times in three months.
Another common cause of call-outs is false alarms, often because owners fail to keep their smoke alarms free of bugs and dust. Road crashes, arson and hoax callers also take up lots of time.
A hot summer means crews will be at full stretch.
"Remember that a fire engine going to a burning bin or a hoax call isn't available to go to a serious fire or accident," said Mr Young. "The summer can be a wonderful experience please don't spoil it with a tragedy that could have been avoided."
