I FEEL recent comments in your paper regarding Swindon's Wyvern Theatre are most unfair. I have seen many big names appear at the theatre and always look forward to receiving their new brochure.
I have personally appeared at the venue along with an amateur group I belong to. The staff have always been friendly, helpful and welcoming from start to finish. There is a real sense of community surrounding the theatre which serves the people of Swindon magnificently.
Having seen a local group's production of Copacabana at the Wyvern last year and more recently seeing a professional production of the same show at the Oxford Apollo, I can honestly say that the local group produced a far superior show which the theatre and people of Swindon should be proud of.
It is ludicrous to say that larger names do not appear, you listed Darren Day as a big name at Bristol, does this mean you rank him higher than the talented personalities such as Colin Baker and Tony Hadley to name just two.
I felt that your article put the theatre in a very poor light which was very unfair.
