IT'S the end of the school year this week when teachers and pupils recharge their batteries during the holidays.
But for some teachers it is time to say goodbye to their pupils for one last time as they head off into
retirement.
Many have devoted their whole working lives to helping their pupils reach their full potential. All the teachers we feature today have expressed a love of teaching that makes it a vocation, rather than just a job.
We all remember a good teacher that has inspired us to do our best during those vital early times in our lives and years later their influence is still with us. Likewise, teachers look back with pride at the success of their charges and are motivated by the vitality of children who keep them young at heart.
Retiring teachers across the area are no doubt looking forward to a long and happy retirement but with mixed feelings about leaving.
We wish all those going all the best and thank them for their years of hard work educating us.
