IN view of the school holidays and past memories of vandalism, graffiti and fires at various schools across the town, I would implore the council and school authorities to make sure all alarm systems, CCTV cameras, etc, are up and running, making sure there is film in the cameras of course.
Also that the caretakers and security guards are on the ball to deal firmly with any intruders.
More importantly that the police patrols around the town, act promptly when an intruder alarm is activated. They should be able to reach any school in town in two to five minutes (not two to five days) and if anyone is caught make sure they, or their parents are made to pay for any damage done.
We the council taxpayers do not want to pay for a vandalised or burned down classroom come the autumn because of incompetence.
