FAIRFORD produced an all-round team performance, weathered a late rally and a nerve-racking last overs to beat high-flying Stone by three runs in their latest Gloucestershire County League Division One match.
Asked to bat, Town made a solid start through Brothers and Clarke, the latter first out at 49.
Townsend then struck 28 in just 10 balls before he and Brothers fell within an over, and with Seward and Newport also going, it was left to Mark Greener and Bullock to forge the day's biggest partnership.
Greener smashed six sixes and six fours in a belligerent 73 to take Fairford to a season's best 237-6.
Stone soon settled after an early loss and reached the last 15 overs needing 125 for victory, with eight wickets in hand.
The return of Seward, though, brought wickets and a task of 14 off the last over just proved too much for Stone, Seward finishing his day with 4-60.
