SWINDON motorists travelling London-bound on the M4 will face major maintenance works for five months.
From August 4 resurfacing and full carriageway repairs at junction 13 Chieveley will coincide with the building of the A34 dual carriageway M4 underpass.
While the month-long work takes place, three narrow lanes and contraflow will be set up on both carriageways every day, with a reduced speed limit of 50 mph and CCTV cameras. A free recovery service will be in place in the event of vehicle breakdowns.
Once the major maintenance work is complete, lane restrictions will stay in place for a further four months while the underpass is constructed.
John Martin, Highways Agency project manager, said: "Due to the speed reduction at these junctions we advise motorists to take extra time for their journeys and consider varying their journeys or using alternative means of transport."
