WHAT great news for the residents of Akers Way, Pembroke Park, Woodhall Park and surrounding area regarding the police clampdown on illegal motorcycling in the fields adjacent to Akers Way (EA July 15).
I have lived in the area for 18 years and this has been a constant problem.
The noise from the scramble bikes at weekends and evenings is horrendous, affecting a large number of residents.
The problem is that it is not only youngsters but also adults from outside this area using the fields transporting their bikes on trailers and vans.
It is not uncommon to see three or four bikes at a time being unloaded.
The fields are also used by children and adults for walking dogs, so apart from the noise nuisance, there is a high risk of someone being seriously injured because they are biking illegally.
I assume they have no insurance.
I would like to thank the police and local councillors for this initiative and hopefully look forward to the peace and quiet we have always hoped for.
