TWO new white horses are to appear in the Wiltshire countryside when the Marlborough business park opens.
Members of the town council's planning committee supported plans on Monday for the proposed road layout in Salisbury Road with a new roundabout providing access to the business park.
Plans showed chalk spoil from the road excavations mounded on the roundabout island.
Coun Graham Francis said: "There is a quite interesting development in the design in that they are going to use chalk spoil to create white horses on both sides of the roundabout.
"It will be quite appropriate because we have white horses in the area and because it is to be called the White Horse Business Park."
He added: "I am hoping it will not turn out to be a white elephant."
Councillors welcomed the plans showing a new footpath on the east side of Salisbury Road from the town to the proposed business park site, which should make it safer for campers at the Postern Hill site in Savernake Forest to walk into town.
