AN UNBEATEN 50 from Barry Maggs took Hinton Charterhouse to a five wicket win at Box in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Division Two.
Put into bat on a rain effected pitch, the home side found runs hard to come by. Graham Tanner took the first wicket and conceded only 14 runs from his 12 overs.
Box finally limped to 95 all out, with Richard Foley top scoring with 29 and Lee Hodgson taking four for 20.
In response, Dave Crawford exploited the conditions, taking two for 13 from his 10 overs to give hope to the home side. But Maggs took on the bowling to nullify the conditions and take his side to victory.
l BOX received a much needed boost the following day when they managed a six wicket win at local rivals Corsham in the Wiltshire Cricket Board Sunday cup.
Corsham set a target of 229 for six, thanks mainly to Gavin Salter (91) and Pete Dennett (82), but Box, from three divisions below, overhauled the total in the last over thanks to Richard Foley (109) and Tony Trotman (50 not out).
