PEWSEY Vale's first scheduled pre-season game match ended goalless because the club's goalposts didn't arrive in time.
The Hellenic League Premier Division club were due to play Selectabook at home on Tuesday evening but the game had to be postponed until tonight.
Chairman Rob Thompson had been arranging to have new goalposts fitted in time for the opening friendly match but they did not arrive in time.
The game was originally rescheduled to be played at the Recreation Ground in Pewsey tonight, but it was confirmed yesterday that the venue had been switched and it will now take place at Nursteed Road in Devizes.
Thompson said: "In the end the posts were only going in at 6pm on Tuesday. To be honest we just had too much work to do on the ground during the close season and we just ran out of time."
Some of the works that have taken place at Pewsey during the summer included installing gates right the way around the ground.
Thompson added: "Fortunately the friendlies are always arranged on the understanding that if teams are not ready they will not go ahead."
Meanwhile, Pewsey manager Steve Wootton is looking forward to having both of his first choice strikers Barry Flippance and Craig Wall regular line-up next season.
