Ref. 25840-27A FORMER Stratton St Margaret schoolgirl cannot wait to make a name for herself in the world of classical music.
Sarah Ings, 22, of Highworth Road, Stratton St Margaret, says her main target now she has finished a music degree at London's Guildhall is to inspire youngsters to take up classical music.
Sarah, who attended Kingsdown School, said: "Over the next year I want to build my name as a new and exciting performer.
"I want people to come and watch me because they will see and hear something different and unexpected. My music is somewhere between classical and jazz, something children can relate to."
Sarah, who at 15 won a scholarship to study A-Level music at Dean School, in Cheltenham, will spend the next year back at college.
She said: "This next year is like a transitional period for me. I'm the Student Union president of Guildhall so I'll be there doing paid work, but at the same time I'll have the chance to build my own name."
In October Sarah will join a two-week tour with Yamaha and Classic FM radio around dozens of schools across the UK.
Sarah, who specialises in the saxophone, said: "We'll travel all over including Edinburgh, Newcastle, Cardiff and Birmingham, and see 1,000 youngsters a day."
