I WRITE with regard to the above and in response to Miss Packer's letter.
The issue of free garden waste sacks is a concession to people who qualify for the D Card service.
These are people who are physically unable to carry out their black sack to the front of their property and there is no able person resident to assist them.
There is a requirement of written confirmation of this from a doctor as some people have applied for the D Card service as a means of obtaining free green sacks.
The price of £1 per sack includes the cost of collecting the additional garden waste.
There are concessions available to Swindon Card holders.
The preferred option is for householders to compost their garden waste and compost bins are available at £16 each from the Council at Enterprise Works. Telephone 616288.
