TROWBRIDGE'S batsmen appeared shell-shocked from the previous week's events against Devizes as they crashed to a 113 run defeat to league leaders Winget.
The home side's recovery from 80 for six was due to the partnerships between Tetley, Newton and Carter, whose aggressive run scoring helped push the score on past 150.
The early wicket from Peter Hickerton looked to have spurred on Trowbridge, but despite chances being made, the wickets proved difficult to take.
The introduction of Andy Hales to the attack broke open the middle order as he and Cornelious Burger claimed four wickets in quick succession to put Trowbridge on top.
Taking the last few wickets proved more difficult, as the Trowbridge bowling lost its direction and the Winget middle order became more confident.
The return of slow left armer Mike Beel to the team helped to give some variety to the attack, but the lack of control from the other end meant Trowbridge were unable to capitalise on their start.
Chasing 173 to beat the league leaders was always going to be difficult, but losing three wickets on 18 runs, and two wickets on 29 runs left Trowbridge with a mountain to climb.
Early runs from Stuart Edginton looked to have got the innings off to a good start but the mid-innings collapse knocked the stuffing from the batting side.
Burger and Ben Whiting were the only two other batsmen to make double figures as the team were dismissed for 59.
Carter starred in the second innings taking seven for 27, the best figures of the season.
Trowbridge now need to beat Wootton Bassett tomorrow to avoid sliding further down the table.
