THE Stroud and Swindon Building Society, the UK's 15th largest, has announced it now has assets in excess of £2 billion.
John Parker, chief executive of the Society and deputy chairman of the Building Societies Association, said: "In recent years we have achieved consistent and rapid expansion, and, continue to work hard to contain costs in an increasingly competitive and regulated market."
Established in 1850, the society reached the £10 million assets mark in 1970, a £100 million in 1981 and in 1997 reached a £1 billion.
