LEAFLETS aimed at increasing awareness of minority groups in west Wiltshire are being unveiled this week.
The West Wiltshire Diversity Task Group has produced a new batch of leaflets with the dual purpose of increasing the group's public profile and helping create a more "inclusive and tolerant society".
The leaflets, which will be available in a host of public buildings including libraries, police stations and council offices, provide a checklist for organisers wanting to ensure their events cater for minority groups.
Pippa McVeigh, community safety officer at West Wiltshire District Council, said: "It is quite easy to forget the needs of minority groups."
Gary Jefferson, of Gay Men's Health Wiltshire and Swindon, said: "We would also like to broaden our membership. We are aware of the make-up of the local population which is not represented in the task group at the moment."
The task group, born out of the Crime and Disorder Act two years ago, brings together a wealth of statutory and voluntary groups including Gay Men's Health, the Racial Equality Council, Age Concern and West Wiltshire District Council.
