THE Royal British Legion headquarters has announced a national campaign to recruit more Poppy People to help with all aspects of this year's collection in November. Last year the Trowbridge branch raised an amazing £14,750 which came from door-to-door collections, the static points in The Shires and Tesco, village collections, at schools and the workplace.
As time goes on and our helpers retire from front-line service we in Trowbridge also need more Poppy People and I wonder if you could help?
In particular this year we need volunteers to help in The Shires and at Tesco. You need only donate one or two mornings or afternoons in the run-up to Remembrance Sunday. It's very sociable and great fun, with passers-by stopping for a chat or to exchange memories. If you think you might be able to spare a few hours, a half-day or more, in the first 10 days of November, please ring me.
