A POPULAR singer who entertained Wiltshire crowds despite having cancer has lost her battle against the disease.
Alison Muir, who was in her early 50s, was a performer with group Hen Party, which regularly played in the Swindon area. She died on July 16 of septicaemia following a battle with breast cancer.
Since they formed in 1995, the group gained wide popularity in the Swindon area for their traditional, popular and contemporary songs.
Despite also suffering from severe arthritis which resulted in two of her joints being replaced Alison of Bracknell, Berkshire, bravely continued to wow the crowds, performing as recently as June 10 at Cricklade Library. The group has also played twice at Wootton Bassett library.
Chris Moore, who runs the libraries at Wootton Bassett, Cricklade and Purton, said she would be missed. "Alison had a sparkle in her eye that is the best way to describe her," he said.
