A CROWN court judge hailed an off-duty policeman a hero for catching two burglars despite being slashed with a knife.
Judge Rupert Bursell praised Sgt Robert Anning for catching burglars Andrew Harrison, 24, and Daniel Lafayette, 20 following a burglary in Bath.
Sgt Anning was slashed on the hand during the incident on January 16.
Harrison, of Hill Street, Trowbridge and Lafayette, of Trowbridge Road, Bradford on Avon both pleaded guilty to burglary at the hearing in Bristol Crown Court on Tuesday.
Harrison also admitted blackmail for the unwarranted demand of a motor vehicle and unlawful wounding.
The case was adjourned until August 12 for sentencing.
