NEXT year's Wroughton Carnival will go ahead on Saturday, July 10 dispelling fears the event would end after a series of fundraising and other difficulties.
The carnival committee has confirmed that next year's event will definitely take place after many people, who had complained at paying a charge for evening entertainment at the Weir Field, had approached committee mem-bers to congratulate them on "the best carnival ever".
It had been feared that the annual spectacular, which celebrated its eighth birthday last month, would cease after a dearth of corporate and private sponsor-ship.
Carnival committee member Tim Benson said: "The carnival was given a new lease of life.
"Through all the letters and approaches we've received from members of the public, it appears this year was the best yet.
"We're delighted to say that the extra effort and changes that have been made this year look to have financially secured the future of the Wroughton Carnival."
At a presentation night on Friday, August 8 the carnival committee will distribute some £7,000 in fundraising money to a host of local good causes, including the Evening Advertiser's Macmillan Swindon Cancer Appeal, the Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the Prospect Hospice.
