I THINK the Mechanics' Institute should be reinstated to its former use to fit in with the conserved Railway Village houses.
But failing that the Swindon Young Musicians need an Academy, as numbers are growing very fast.
It covers children from nursery up to about 21. It is so marvellous to hear the children play various instruments and to see them improving as time goes along.
Finding a venue for each concert is a nightmare either a cramped school hall in two sessions or the Oasis at several thousand pounds. which comes out of the meagre profits.
We should encourage children in their endeavours and having a building would be a step in the right direction.
It would also add to the 'Brownie points' needed to become a city.
