ANDY KING has enquired about Portsmouth defender Jason Crowe as he looks to further strengthen his squad, but the Town boss insists the contribution of loyal servants has not been forgotten.
One such individual is midfielder Steve Robinson.
The 28-year-old thumped home his second goal in successive games as Town drew 2-2 with Pompey at the County Ground last night.
King said Robinson was quite capable of contributing more goals and the player himself said a target of half-a-dozen should be attainable.
Supporters have spent the summer talking about the influx of new faces, but King feels those who have served him well during both the good times and the bad should not be overlooked. King said: "Steve Robinson has greater energy levels than anyone I've ever seen play football.
"That was the reason I brought him to this football club.
"He has been outstanding in pre-season."
Robinson himself was rather modest about his goal-of-pre-season contender.
He said: "It's one of those that you connect with and it flies in.
"I know I should get a few more. Five or six a season should be realistic.
"I have been a bit erratic in front of goal but maybe as I've got a bit older I've realised you have to be calm when you get into those positions.
"People like Sam Parkin get goals because they are calm inside the box."
Although manager King was delighted with the efforts of Robinson and his colleagues in the draw with Harry Redknapp's men, it has not deterred him from seeking to bring in two loan players.
He said: "I've got to get on that phone again and see what's available.
"It's important to bring in the right ones."
King mentioned Crowe's name in the aftermath of last night's game.
The 24-year-old right wing- back is not in Redknapp's team at present and a loan deal could provide King with another option in that position.
Town's youngsters ended their Milk Cup adventure in Northern Ireland with a 1-0 win over NK Factor.
