POLICE have launched an investigation into the sudden death of a woman at a house party in North Star, but stress there are no suspicious circumstances.
The unnamed 28-year-old from Swindon attended a party at the house in Ferndale Road on Saturday night, and died there early on Sunday morning.
Yesterday, police sealed off the alleyway immediately behind the terraced house at Bradley's Corner, at the junction of Ferndale Road and Whitehouse Road, as forensic officers worked at the scene.
Officers have been trying to trace the dead woman's next of kin so that she can be formally identified.
Machinder Rehnsi, 57, who has run Handyman's General Stores and Off Licence on Whitehouse Road for 12-years, said: "When I came to open up yesterday the place was sealed off and I thought that was a bit strange."
Premdeep Rehnsi, 21, was working at his father's shop and served one of the revellers earlier on Saturday evening.
He said: "They had quite a few people round for a party I think they've recently moved in."
Acting detective sergeant Mark Cains, of Swindon police, said: "It is an unexplained death at the moment, but I can confirm that the deceased is a 28-year-old woman from the Swindon area.
"We're not treating this death as suspicious."
