A WHIRLWIND ton from 10-year-old Chippenham batsman Uzi Qureshi was the highlight in the North Wilts Junior Cricket League this week.
Qureshi's feat came during a high-scoring under 11 game at Devizes.
The visitors batted first, and Qureshi, pictured left, initially found batting difficult on a bouncy artificial pitch.
After seeing off the opening bowlers his confidence grew, and he reached his maiden 50 in the 20th over.
He then cut loose, scoring his next 50 in just five overs, with his 100 coming off the final ball of the 25-over innings. Ninety of his runs came in boundaries three sixes and 18 fours.
He was well supported by Ashley Shipton (14) and Steve Bullen (17) as Chippenham reached 175-3.
In reply, Devizes batted consistently with L Flower scoring 63, Joplin 26 and Chivers 27.
In the end Devizes were all out for 171 to leave Chippenham victors by just four runs.
Simon Humphreys took 3-36.
