CHEWING gum is a constant menace on our streets that should have been tackled long ago.
Councils in other parts of the country have already invested in special gum-blasting machines to rid the scourge from the pavements and prevent that disgusting bottom of the shoe experience.
Stopping the availability of gum in shops in certain areas seems rather pointless there is no doubt that some chewers will continue to spit it out all over town.
Until they are educated to stop doing that the clean-up of the blight will continue to cost the taxpayer.
