FROM LEARNING the art of henna tattoos to finding out how to become a model or television extra, Swindon College's new range of part- time courses for adults has just been unveiled.

Whether you want to give your career a boost, pick up a new skill or just have fun and meet new people, there is something on offer for everyone.

Even if the thought of returning to education puts you off or there are other barriers preventing you from studying, the college has a highly regarded team of advisors who will help find the right course.

Enrolment is continuous through the summer, but to enrol in person students are advised to check the college's opening hours over the summer holidays.

The main enrolment day is from noon to 8pm on September 2, when course tutors and staff advisors will be on hand to offer guidance and conduct interviews.

Swindon College principal Mike Hopkins said: "College courses really are for everyone.

"Some of our students are already very capable when they commence their course, others are very worried about whether they can cope.

"We are proud to say that our students tend to be successful at reaching their goals by completing their courses and qualifications."

Traditional academics include GCSEs and A-levels, and there are basic skills sessions for adults who want help in coping with everyday maths or spelling.

If you want to brush up on your computer skills, lessons at all levels are available at seven different centres in the Parks, Nythe, Wootton Bassett and Marlborough as well as the Regent Circus site.

If you want to take things more easily you can try interior design or pottery, or even get a certificate in wine appreciate or cake decoration.

With a national shortage in skilled tradesmen, the college has a wide range of construction courses including carpentry, plumbing and brickwork.

Marketing officer Ceri Bevan said: "The college aims to provide something for everyone.

"Part time courses really do offer people the chance to learn new skills, meet new people and develop new interests.

"It is also the case that the majority of our adult and community courses continue to cost less than those provided by other education providers in the region."
