ZURICH pulled off the shock result of the week as gave themselves a lifeline in the Division One relegation battle by defeating Nationwide.

Batting first, they scored 141 for three, thanks mainly to Mark Bowles' 67. In reply Nationwide needed four off the last ball and ended up three runs short on 138 for seven, with Mark Vincent's 45 the main contribution.

Compton shot out relegated Winterbourne for 51 and sailed to a 10 wicket victory.

Castrol batsmen all contributed to their total of 112 nine as S Smith took 3-33. Southwest in reply reached 113-3 with D Lloyd unbeaten on 54.

Crosslink edged closer to Division One cricket next season with a Division Two home win over Nationwide 2nds. Andy Flay took 4-30 and Steve Lewis 2-17 as Nationwide made 97-9, with Sandy Mellis hitting 35. In reply it was Freddie Roofe's 42 not out that took Crosslink to 100-4 and victory.

Lydiard Millicent had a comfortable win over Talismen and condemned them to Division Three next season. Chameleon keep the top two on their toes following a three-run win over WH Smith.

Chameleon made 118-5 with Fernandez top scoring on 62, and restricted WH Smith to 115-7 despite Clem Davey's battling 65 not out.

United Churches look favourites to drop into Division Three after they failed to topple Wanborough's 98 all out and Richard Flock's unbeaten 47. Nick Stacey took 5-14 as Churches were bowled out for 82.

In Division Three Ashbury were finally relegated after being beaten by near rivals Monahans. Paul french scored 61 as Monahans totalled 121, and then bowled out Ashbury for 105.

CS Nomads gained promotion with a 48-run win over Motorola.
