WILTSHIRE will be boosted by the return of their two leading players when they continue their quest for the Minor Counties Championship title at Westbury this weekend.

The Moonrakers have not won the title since the beginning of the last century, but victory in this weekend's match against Berkshire will take them a step closer to claiming the championship pennant. for only the second time.

Leading batsman Steve Perrin and former England slow left armer Richard Illingworth both return after missing last weekend's game with Cornwall.

The match also sees the return of opening batsman Kevin Blackburn, who has recovered from a fractured thumb and will play provided he suffers no reaction after Saturday's clubmatch.

James Hibberd is unavailable as he is playing for Hampshire 2nd XI.

The top of the Western Division is very close with Cornwall played five, 65 points, Berkshire played four, 64 points, Shropshire played five, 63 points, Herefordshire played 5, 62 points and Wiltshire played four, 61 points.

Wiltshire's match in the Minor Counties Championship at Camborne on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday ended in a draw after heavy rain prevented any play on the second and third days.

On the first day Cornwall won the toss and asked Wiltshire to bat on a wet wicket with a slow outfield which made run scoring difficult.

Wiltshire made a poor start and at one time were 39 for five, of which Jamie Glasson made 23, but a sixth wicket stand of 99 between Michael Coles (27) and James Hibberd (76 not out) improved the situation until Wiltshire's last five wickets fell for 15 runs and they were all out for 153.

Ryan Driver took five for 49 and Justin Stephens four for 62.

Cornwall started steadily but Wiltshire fought back and reduced Cornwall to 103 for five until there was an unbeaten sixth wicket stand which took the score to 168 for five at the end of the first day which saw the end of the match.

James Hibberd took two for 11, Richard Bates two for 25 and Kevin Nash one for 36.

Cornwall took eight points and Wiltshire six.

Wiltshire play Berkshire at Westbury on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and have named a squad of 12 players.
