SARSEN Housing Association has appointed Liz Starling as its first welfare benefits advisor.
The association tried to appoint somebody to the position two years ago but was unsuccessful.
Mrs Starling has now been appointed to the post, which the association said will improve its service to tenants.
The service is free and confidential and meetings can be held in a tenant's home or at the association's offices at Sarsen Court in Devizes.
The aim is to help Sarsen tenants obtain the benefits to which they are entitled to or putting them in touch with relevant agencies.
Mrs Starling said: "I am looking forward to assisting people of all ages and backgrounds in claiming all types of benefits.
"Income Support, Attendance Allowance, Tax Credit and Jobseekers Allowance are just a few of the benefits available. If tenants think they might be eligible I would ask them to get in touch."
