POLICE in Amesbury are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a 12-year-old girl, reported on Friday morning.
The girl was in the town about 11am and claimed she was assaulted by an elderly man in the alleyway that leads from Solstice Rise to Earls Court Road.
Police say she was not badly injured but they are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact them.
An elderly man was arrested in connection with the incident.
But police later decided not to proceed, pending further inquiries.
In a separate incident, which police believe is related to the first, an elderly man was knocked to the floor by another man at the Marie Curie Cancer Care shop in the town.
Officers are also appealing for witnesses to this incident.
