COLLEAGUES and patients have expressed their gratitude to Dr David Twiner who has retired as a partner in the Lansdowne Surgery in Devizes after 30 years.
Dr Twiner, 62, qualified as a doctor in 1964, and came to Devizes in 1973 as an anaesthetist at Devizes Hospital.
There he worked with Dr Brian Jones who then became his colleague at Lansdowne Surgery.
Dr Jones said: "We operated together for 16 years before the health trust decided the theatres at the hospital weren't up to scratch.
"Dr Twiner has been very popular with all his patients and has given sterling service both to his patients and his partners."
Dr Twiner plays golf and bridge, and enjoys travelling. He will continue to work part-time and to provide holiday cover for the surgery.
He was presented with a rowing machine and a course in sky diving.
