PLANS to build three new homes on the doctors' surgery site in Ramsbury was deferred by Kennet's regulatory committee.

The committee had already agreed to the doctor's surgery being re-located from High Street to Whittonditch Road. On Thursday it considered plans for the three-bed homes which applicants MedCentres Property Ltd said were essential to finance the new surgery project.

The parish council objected saying it wanted access to the rear. The CPRE said it was concerned the development was crammed against the boundary. Ramsbury Amenity Group said the site was too small for three homes.

Officers had recommended granting permission but members decided to delegate authority to the officers subject to the homes being moved one metre eastwards and to negotiate with the applicants for chimneys.
