AN adequate case, I believe, can be made for a solidly heterosexual clergy, without recourse to Leviticus, especially in the light of how few level headed members of the Church of England can be said to be at all enamoured with the idea of the vicarage (let alone the Bishop's palace) being associated with a less than natural situation.

Now if there is one word that should be expunged from C of E parlance I believe it to be "a living."

A living is applied to a parish. The priesthood, after all, is held to be a vocation, a calling, and not a career or means of eking out a living.

By what stretch of the imagination can it be deemed to be a retreat for deviants from nature's blueprint for perpetration of the species?

Masters of the non sequiteur will, by now, have me dubbed a "homophobic." For the record I am not. Provided they do not blatantly flaunt the condition they were involuntarily born into, I believe gays should be treated with respect.

However, I cannot say that I have much time for the clique of so called liberals currently bent on making things difficult for the Archbishop of Canterbury.
