DANGEROUS walls could crush passers-by who ignore warnings, council bosses fear.
Barricades stopping walkers using Snappersnipes in Westbury are regularly moved or ignored. One of the garden walls has already collapsed and two more are on the brink.
Now homeowners face prosecution from Wiltshire County Council if the walls are not repaired or replaced.
Adam Butcher, council spokesman, said: "These walls are dangerous and could collapse at any time. The barricades are there to protect the public and it is unsafe to move them."
The council issued warnings to three homes whose gardens end at Snappersnipes. If the walls are not fixed the council will replace them and charge the owners.
Since the beginning of the year one wall has been repaired and another has been removed.
But two walls are still considered too dangerous and Snappersnipes will only be reopened when the council pass it as safe.
The shortcut takes walkers from The Butts past The Laverton through to Bratton Road.
