YOUNGSTERS could soon be off the streets and out of trouble following a cash boost for a new skate park in Edington.
Skateboarders demanded Edington Parish Council help them build a skate park after gatecrashing a council meeting three months ago.
Now they have been given a grant of £4,500 and building could begin in the autumn.
Parish councillor, David Perkins said: "The kids have been very proactive. They have got involved with community projects and as a result the village has given them its full backing."
In May, brothers Shane and Lee Newman, Michael Hiscock, Tom Callaway and Tom Rutland demanded a skate park at a top-level parish council meeting.
The youngsters raised cash with a sponsored walk, collected donations from local companies and ran a stall at the village fair.
More than £7,000 has now been raised for the skate park and a site in Edington has been earmarked.
