MEMBERS of the public were given the chance to quiz police officers about the use of safety cameras on Wiltshire's roads.
Officers from Wiltshire Constab-ulary's Safety Camera Unit joined Wiltshire County Council's senior road safety officer at the three-day West Wilts Show to answer questions and register concerns.
Mobile camera units are in use at three west Wiltshire sites; the A350 at Heywood, the B3107 at Holt Road and the A363 at Trowbridge Road, Bradford on Avon. A static camera covers the A36 at Thoulstone.
The cameras assess the extent of the speeding problem so officers can evaluate whether the site under investigation is in need of a permanent camera.
Sgt Nick Blencowe, of the safety camera unit, said: "Safety cameras are operating at sites where there is a history of collisions involving death or serious injury, or where there is local concern regarding the speed of the traffic travelling through that area."
