DARREN Perrin believes Melksham Town face a tough test this season but is confident his former club will rise to the challenge.
Perrin still has strong links to the club and is desperate for Melksham to have a good season.
The Paulton Rovers manager said: "It is going to be a hard season for them but I think they are going to be ok.
"I am desperate for them to do well, not just because my dad is chairman, but because they are a great club, with a good pitch and great support."
He left Melksham three years ago and admits the club's financial position makes it difficult for them to compete with other clubs.
He said: "It is hard for a club like Melksham as they haven't the finances of teams like Chippenham or even my club Paulton.
"Without the money they can't attract the players so they have to rely on youth.
"They will work hard and I am sure will win their fair share of games, as long as it's not in their two games against Paulton."
