AMBITIOUS plans are on the table for a 300-mile walk to bring people from both sides of the English Channel together.
The Bradford on Avon & District French Twinning Association is planning a 10-day walk from its French twin town, Sully-Sur-Loire, to Bradford on Avon, next summer.
An English group will travel to Sully for the start, and the French group will travel back to Sully at the end.
In between, the English and French members of the association will walk together and get to know each other.
The French half of the twinning association came up with the idea, but trip coordinator, Phil Turk, thinks it could work.
"It's different and it's a challenge," he said.
"It should involve people who otherwise might never be made aware of twinning," he added.
The walkers will raise money for charity, but Mr Turk is aware 300 miles could be a step too far.
He said: "Nobody can be expected to walk 300 miles in 10 days, so walkers will be split into groups."
The organisers are still looking for help with planning and organising the event.
Chairman of the Twinning Association, Roger Andrews, said: "It is going to take a lot of organising and we need as many people as possible to support us."
