PARENTS at St Laurence School, Bradford on Avon are being urged to go on-line and lobby for financial support for their school.
One parent, Charlie Stratton, has set up a new website for the school at www.st-laurence.com Since the school's financial troubles came to light last term he now wants other parents to join him in using the site to lobby the Government to get more financial support for St Laurence.
Mr Stratton has put a draft letter to the Government on the website for parents to download and send off.
Last term, headteacher Nick Sorensen resigned and five teachers were made redundant to cut costs.
The governors also revealed the school will go into next term £70,000 in the red.
Mr Stratton said much of the blame for the financial problems lay with a lack of funding and urged other parents to lend their support.
He said: "Because their hard working teachers tend to stay and become more experienced, they rightly earn higher salaries. Unfortunately this also increases the school's unavoidable cost base.
"St Laurence parents only have one secondary school in Bradford on Avon and it is very much a community school."
He has also highlighted the work of the St Laurence School Association, saying their fundraising work will become even more important in the future to fund crucial school supplies.
