ON Saturday July 19 my wife and myself, along with many others, had the most enjoyable experience of attending the coffee morning and plant sale at the home of John and Mary Harris at Leigh Road, Westbury.
This annual social occasion, the profits of which go to All Saints Church, is looked forward to by all who attend year after year. It was remarked on by quite a considerable number of people, of various denominations, that year after year the clergy is noticeably conspicuous by its non-attendance. Is Saturday such a busy time, once a year?
It is certain that none who laboured in this particular vineyard did so for the thanks it might bring, but we are only human and appreciation shown is most welcome!

On Sunday May 4, 18 walkers set off from RUH Bath to Knees of Trowbridge.
From Knees Tony Jones, Marcus Holbrow, Tim Lowrie, Annette Bannell, Peter Knee, Marieke Knee, Tony Harding, Sue Bridges, John Kitcher, Martin Chandler, Shirley Chandler all took part.
Friends Andrew Mitchell, Margaret Taylor, Sue Miles, Ron Looker, Sandra Hudd, Julian Park and Keith Brown also attended.
Our walk took us along the river and canal for approx-imately 15 miles; we were very lucky with the weather as it was a very sunny day.
On arrival back at Knees we were all greeted with drinks and cakes. The walk took us six hours 45 minutes.
The event was for charity, the benefactor being Bath Cancer Research and RUH Breast Care Unit. The walk raised £3,000, which will be equally shared betwen the two charities.
We would like to thank the walkers, supporters and the people who gave donations to help raise this fantastic amount. Many thanks.

WE write to thank The Clarendon School through your letters page for their kind donation to Holbrook Park Pre-school of £100, which Year 8s raised, through fun runs, aerobics and swimming earlier this term.
Pre-school is very grateful to this year group for thinking of us, and we will be able to put this money together with funds we have raised from our own fundraising, to purchase new equipment for the children.

THE Trowbridge and District Football League, sponsored by Premier Global Ltd, has recently completed a presentation to 12 local businesses who have supported the organisation for the last five successive years.
I would like to thank them for their invaluable support and take the opportunity to express thanks also to the other 200 sponsors who have contributed to the league in that duration. This has enabled our teams, when prudent to do so, to benefit from such support.
Unfortunately these sincere thanks cannot be extended to the local councils.
T PENWELL,(League Development Officer)

On behalf of the Lions Club of Trowbridge, I would like to thank the many local people who donated bottles towards our stall and the numerous people who visited our stand at The West Wilts Show. Despite the weather it was a very successful event and thanks to their generous support the Lions raised over £1,000.
This money will be used by the Club in its role of serving the people of Trowbridge, to assist a wide range of local people and groups.
