IT would appear that democracy has flown out of the window at County Hall and autocracy flown in.
I would remind Cllr Fleur de Rhe Philipe of the answer she gave me to a question that I put to her on June 27 in the council chamber regarding the Westbury bypass. Quote: "I have never championed an eastern route."
Be that as it may I read in the Wiltshire Times of July 11 that she said: "The eastern route must go ahead as soon as possible.
"The time for stalling is over," completely ignoring the representation of the electorate and the inspector's report.
The Westbury bypass is a major issue and should not be railroaded through on the nod. The people's voice should be heard and listened to.
That should also apply to any government inspector's report, which must be taken into consideration.
The air is full of "a pungent aroma emanating from a Scandinavian country"! "We can't please everyone, we must go ahead with the bypass" still not championing an eastern bypass councillor?
