Ref. 25927-01Around 30 students aged between 11 and 14-years-old from primary and secondary schools in West Swindon have been taking part in the art summer school at Peatmoor Community Primary School.

During the week the students have been studying and creating their own three-dimensional sculptures.

Teaching the students is Warminster-based sculptor David O'Connor. He said he was pleased with the students' work.

He said: "This really is a talented group of students. They are very enthusiastic and they have all surpassed my expectations."

"We have taken the students along to Sealife Centres to give them a some inspiration about deep sea life and the species that are regularly being discovered at the bottom of the sea. So we have some really weird and wonderful creations."

Daniel Bartlett, 11 from Shaw said: "It has been really great fun. We were making this fish creature and we all did our little bit.

"It was certainly different being in school during summer. I think my parents will really like the work we have done."

The students had until yesterday to finish their sculptures before displaying them to their parents in an exhibition of their work.
