DOZENS of children patiently queued in the foyer of the UGC Cinema in West Swindon eager to experience three dimensional film technology.
They had turned up to watch the next instalment of the children's spy thriller, Spy Kids 3D: Game Over.
The $40 million film began showing yesterday at both of the town's cinemas UGC and Cineworld at Greenbridge and is the latest film to use 3D technology, which makes the characters and features of the film look as if they are coming out of the screen.
The film features child stars Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara as well as the more familiar Hollywood actors Antonio Banderas, George Clooney and Sylvester Stallone.
The plot centres on a computer game which genius Stallone has developed to control the minds of children.
It's up to the Spy Kids and their pals to throw a spanner in the works.
As the young moviegoers collected their tickets they were handed the 3D spectacles with green and red lenses.
Among the children going to see the film, were Shannon, Jason and Teejay Silverton from Grange Park.
Shannon, eight, said: "I am really looking forward to seeing the film. I have watched all of the Spy Kids movies and I think they are great. Carmen is my favourite character."
Her brother Jason, 10, said: "I am looking forward to seeing the film. I love all the action and the special effects. It will be really cool to see the characters come out of the screen in 3D."
Loretta Hendricks, one of the managers at the UGC cinema, said: "It is a great film, but I doubt I will get the chance to see it.
"We have shown one or two 3D films before, and they can be shown with the normal projectors, so there is no special equipment needed."
Following the film, Shannon said: "The film was really cool. The best bit was in the middle of the film where they go into a computer game. It is a great film and the 3D is brilliant. They should make all films like that."
Teejay and Jason shared Shannon's sentiments, both saying they loved the film.
Spy Kids 3D: Game Over is now showing at both the UGC Cinema in Shaw Ridge, West Swindon and at the Cineworld Cinema in Greenbridge.
Ticket details are available by calling 0870 155 5134 (UGC) or 01793 420710 (Cineworld).
