CHILDREN enjoyed a taste of the Caribbean in Swindon. More than 30 seven to 11-year-olds enjoyed a week of carnival festivities in the Swindon Dance studios in Regent Circus.

Dancing, mask making and story telling were just some of the activities on offer.

Charly Logan, 10, from Swindon, said: "I've had a really fun week.

"I even had a go at African drumming."

Joe Ballard, nine, from Ramsbury, was equally enthusiastic.

He said: "Its been really great. I particularly liked making the masks. I also made a light sabre and telescope."

The workshops were run by musician Stephen Blagrove and choreographer Jackie Guy, both from London.

Stephen, 43, said: "They have worked really well and shown tremendous concentration.

"We've had a lot of fun too."

Next week Swindon Dance will hold a five-day dance and theatre workshop for 11 to 16-year-olds.

Shirley Ludford, spokeswoman for Swindon Dance, said: "This is a brilliant and unique opportunity for children to be creative."
