TOMMY Saunders will give former Swindon Town youngster Nathan Edwards another chance to earn a permanent deal in Chippenham's prestige friendly with Division Three Cheltenham Town tonight.
Bobby Gould is expected to bring a strong side to Hardenhuish Park for the match (kick-off 7.30pm) and Bluebirds' boss Saunders hopes Edwards can shine after impressing in Chippenham's 1-0 win at Paulton in Thursday.
"Nathan Edwards looked a very good player in that game," said Saunders.
"He'll be given another go against Cheltenham and if he does well again it will give me food for thought."
Saunders is close to his budget limit, so he may have to jettison a surplus player to make room for the 18-year-old midfielder.
Another trialist will not be offered terms however.
Striker Jody Bevan failed to shine against Paulton and will now complete a permanent move to Cirencester Town as expected.
Saunders meanwhile, is relishing the chance to go head to head with former Wales manager Gould.
"Cheltenham will bring a strong side so it will be another good test for us," he said. "And of course it will be great to manage against Bobby Gould."
"It's also nice to get back home after several friendlies away and hopefully we'll attract a decent crowd."
Player-assistant Adie MIngs is Chippenham's only injury doubt as he continues to recover from a hernia operation.
