NEW College Academy will not take their place in the Hellenic League this season after making a clean break from parent club Swindon Supermarine.
Manager Pete Horwat (pictured left, during a friendly with Highworth) helped form the New College side last year as a feeder team for Dr Martens League Marine.
The squad of youngsters, coached by former Swindon stars Paul Bodin and Tom Jones, finished a creditable 13th in Division One West last season.
But with Marine looking to enter a reserve team in the new Severnside League, continued links with the Academy were not deemed financial viable.
As such, the Academy can no longer share Marine's Hunts Copse ground and have had their status as a senior club revoked by the county FA.
The Academy will spend next season in the Wiltshire League's Junior Division but hope to return to the Hellenic League, after seeking senior status in their own right.
Academy boss Horwat said: "It's disappointing to see us go down but our expectation is to win the league.
"We will use it as a stage to show what we can do and we will be reapplying to the county FA for senior status in time for the following season."
New College will continue to play at South Marston, using one of the satellite pitches adjacent to Marine's Hunts Copse ground.
