SOME weeks ago Dr Chris Eley informed us in a letter that there was no evidence that a death penalty reduced the number of murders.
In a recent Evening Advertiser (Letters, July 28) Misako Minshull tells that hanging is still part of Japanese punishment and that consequently murder is virtually unknown in her country.
Could this be the sort of proof Dr Eley is looking for or, like most do-gooders, will he sweep uncomfortable facts under the carpet in order to prove his own failed theories?
