BATH have signed utility back Jamie Williams from neighbours Bristol Shoguns as World Cup cover.
With a number of Bath Rugby's three-quarters expected to be away on World Cup duty this autumn, including Iain Balshaw and Mike Tindall (England), Simon Danielli (Scotland) and Kevin Maggs (Ireland), Williams will have an important role to play during this period.
Former Harlequin Williams made 10 appearances for the Shoguns last season, and has played 62 Zurich Premiership matches throughout his career.
"Jamie has extensive Zurich Premiership experience," said Bath Rugby head coach John Connolly, "having played for both NEC Harlequins and Bristol Shoguns in recent seasons.
"He can play both full-back and wing and is therefore a useful acquisition. Jamie is here initially as cover for that period but there is a view to extend his stay with the club beyond that."
The signing of Jamie takes the total summer signings up to 13, adding to Duncan Bell, David Flatman, Martyn Wood, Andrew Higgins, Rob Fidler, Christian Balshen, Jonathan Pettemerides, Brendon Daniel, Issac Feaunati, Michael Lipman, Hentie Martens and Lee Best.
