Ref. 26031_15WILTSHIRE could be hotter than the Caribbean by tomorrow - and sun worshippers are hitting the beach to make the most of it.

Keynes Country Park, near Cirencester, was inundated by hundreds of families over the weekend. With the school summer holidays in full swing, the man-made beach looks set to be packed out all week.

Caroline Smith, administration officer at Keynes Country Park, said: "It's been one of our busiest weekends so far this year. People are flocking here to enjoy the wonderful weather, especially after all the rain last week."

More than 1,000 people basked in the sunshine and took a dip in the lake, which also plays host to windsurfers, canoeists and sailors.

Rising temperatures edged closer to the 30 degree mark. Tomorrow they may well reach the mid-30s.

Met office spokesman Andy Yeatman said: "It's 31 degrees in Antigua. Temperatures in Lyneham could beat that by Wednesday."

This year the hottest temperature so far in Britain was 33.6 degrees, recorded in Surrey last month.

But Mr Yeatman is confident this will be beaten this week. He said: "We could easily be breaking the record by Wednesday. And the settled weather should last into next week."

This means even more business for student Olly Snell, who sells ice cream at Keynes Country Park.

Olly, 17, from Cirencester, said: "I'm rushed off my feet. We can barely fill the freezers with ice creams fast enough. They're selling like hot cakes."

The park also runs activity days for eight to 16-year-olds. Raft building, cycling and archery are just some of the activities on offer.
